On November 16, XMUT signed agreements of joint construction of an Intelligent Manufacturing Research Center with Bryansk State Technical University and Orel State University respectively at the Green Intelligent Manufacturing venue, parallel session of the 2024 Maritime Silk Road International Conference on the Cooperation and Integration of Industry, Education, Research and Application.

Pan Deng, Deputy Secretary of CPC XMUT Committee, signed the agreements with Prof. Andrey, Vice President of Bryansk State Technical University as well as Corresponding Academician of the Russian Academy of Engineering, and with Prof. Savin of Orel State University, Academician of the Russian Academy of Engineering. Under the cooperation framework, the three parties of China and Russia will join hands in research projects in intelligent manufacturing, master's and doctoral student cultivation, and teacher-student exchanges. After the signing ceremony, representatives of these two Russian universities visited the classroom building complex, the racing car club, and the alumni pavilion of XMUT, and had effective exchanges with teachers and students from the International Cooperation Office (OICE) and the School of Mechanical & Automotive Engineering.

Academician Savin's team and the Fujian University Key Laboratory of Precision Drive and Transmission under School of Mechanical & Automotive Engineering, XMUT, have been conducting basic and applied research on key basic theories and applied technologies of high-end bearings, and joint cultivation of master’s and doctoral students. We have acquired research funds for five Foreign Talent Introduction Projects at the provincial and national levels, obtained more than 10 patents, and published several high-level academic papers, including two high-level academic papers in top journals in the international mechanical field with XMUT as the first affiliation. Taking advantage of the BRICS and striving to fulfill what China needs, what Xiamen can do, and what BRICS want, XMUT has devoted to talent cultivation, technological innovation, think tank construction, cultural exchanges, and construction of a platform for cooperation of industry, education, research and application with a sustained effort to contribute to the construction of Xiamen as BRICS Innovation Base for Partnership on New Industrial Revolution.
