2023 Tan Kah Kee Scholarship for Study at XMUT in China
I. Introduction to the university
Xiamen University of Technology is a public university in Fujian Province, "a Key Developed University in Fujian Province", selected as "the First-Class Discipline Developed University of Fujian Province", " the Demonstrated Application-oriented Undergraduate University of Fujian Province ". 18 majors are selected as "the first-class undergraduate major" at the provincial level and above, including 6 national-level majors and 12 provincial-level majors. The university are selected in the first batch of 99 national innovation and entrepreneurship education demonstration universities. The university is qualified for conferring master's degree, currently including 4 first-level discipline master's degrees, such as mechanical engineering, management science and engineering, and 8 master's professional degrees, such as electronic information and arts. The school adheres to the school management concept of "student-oriented, serving the industry", follows the school motto of "Specify science and engineering, and develop with the times", and actively explores the three-in-one local service development path of industry-university integration, school-enterprise cooperation and foreign cooperation, finally aims to be an industry friendly, open and international" domestic first-class university of applied science.
Xiamen University of Technology is located in Xiamen, a garden city on the sea with "high quality, high value, modernization and internationalization", a famous "international garden city" and a city that has won the United Nations Habitat Award. Nearly 50 of the Fortune Global 500 have settled in Xiamen, and nearly 5,000 foreigners work or study in this city. With a good international community, you can fully feel the warmth of being at home. The traditional Minnan culture and modern city life make Xiamen an ideal city to understand and explore China.
In recent years, the university has actively promoted the process of international education, and has cooperated pluralistically and comprehensively with more than 60 universities, such as Orel State University of Russia, University of Science in Malaysia, University of Regina in Canada, Newcastle University in the UK, Victoria University of Wellington in New Zealand, University of Ryukyu in Japan, and Jeonbuk University in South Korea. The High-end Bearing Research Center is founded through the cooperation with Orel State University of Russia, the Rail Transit Research Center with Newcastle University in the UK, the Industrial Internet of Things Research Institute with the University of Science in Malaysia, and the "Sino-Foreign Cooperation School Program" with Victoria University in New Zealand and the teacher-student exchanges and joint training of master students with overseas famous universities, such as the University of Western Australia, the University of Cork in Ireland, the University of Rome in Italy and EPITA. The university also implements high-end foreign professional talent introduction and overseas professor recruitment plan, and enrolls overseas students, including those from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan and foreign countries.
II. Target students
Focus on countries along the 21-century Maritime Silk Road and priority is placed on overseas Chinese and students of Chinese origin from Southeast Asian countries.
III.Entry requirements
1. Chinese citizens who have foreign nationality and apply to study as foreign students after immigrating abroad must hold a valid foreign passport or nationality certificate for more than 4 years (including), and have a record of actually living abroad for more than 2 years (actually living abroad for 9 months in a year can be counted as one year, which is subject to the entry and exit stamps) in the most recent four years (as of April 30th of the enrollment year). Support One China policy, be friendly to one’s country of origin.
2. The health condition complies with the relevant provisions of the "Entry and Exit Administration Law of the People's Republic of China", and a medical examination certificate of the past 6 months must be submitted.
3. Have a letter of recommendation by an overseas Chinese association including one’s kin group or by an influential overseas Chinese or person of Chinese origin in the applicant’s country of residence.
4. Education and age
Applicants for bachelor’s degree courses are required to have senior high school certificate/diploma or above, less than 30 years of age;
Applicants for master's degree courses are required to have undergraduate degree or certificate or above, less than 35 years of age;
5.Applicants should reach Level 4 of the International Standard for Chinese Language Proficiency (hereinafter referred to as HSK). High school students who use Chinese as the language of instruction can be exempted from the HSK Level 4 certificate, but they must submit the proof that Chinese is the language of instruction .
6. Recipients of Chinese Government Scholarship or other relevant scholarships or grants are generally not eligible for Tan Kah Kee Scholarship.
IV.Scholarship
1. The Tan Kah Kee Scholarship covers tuition fees, accommodation cost and comprehensive medical insurance.
2. Tan Kah Kee Scholarship recipients are entitled to living allowances for ten months per year, to be delivered monthly as follows:
2600 yuan per month for Master’s students
2,500 yuan per month for Bachelor’s students
