"Wenyue," the Fujian-Taiwan Intangible Cultural Heritage Large Model Led by Xiamen University of Technology, Officially Released

Recently, the Fujian-Taiwan Intangible Cultural Heritage Large Model “Wenyue,” led by Xiamen University of Technology, was officially released. This achievement represents one of the concrete measures taken by the XMUT to implement the important directives of the Party and the state, such as supporting Fujian in exploring new pathways for cross-strait integrated development and advancing the National Cultural Digitization Strategy. It marks a crucial step forward in XMUT's scientific research and innovation within the interdisciplinary field of "AI + Cultural Heritage," injecting strong "digital momentum" into promoting cultural integration across the strait.

The "Wenyue" large model was developed through collaboration between Xiamen University of Technology and industry-academia partners including Crowd Digital Technology (Xiamen) Co., Ltd., Xiamen Geographical Society, and China Unicom Xiamen Branch. It deeply integrates the digital preservation and inheritance system for intangible cultural heritage, grounded in the shared cultural origins across the strait. Building upon the core technical architecture of the "Wenyao" large model led by XMUT, this model employs multi-level knowledge graph construction and self-reflective chain knowledge reasoning technology. It integrates a cross-modal technology matrix including image recognition, speech processing, and GIS, forming a full-stack solution that encompasses intelligent Q&A on intangible cultural heritage knowledge, automatic generation of text and image content, intelligent analysis of audio and video, and the construction of cultural spatiotemporal maps. It assists in achieving a three-dimensional inheritance of intangible cultural heritage resources, from digital preservation to innovative application.

The model's development covers a vast and rich scope, including knowledge query and tracing of Fujian-Taiwan intangible cultural heritage, maritime culture, folk customs, architectural styles, garments and attire, traditional crafts, drama, fine arts, music, quyi (Chinese folk vocal arts), dance, literature, medicine, martial arts, traditional entertainment and acrobatics, cuisine, and red culture inheritance. It supports functionalities across multiple domains such as historical and cultural tracing, text generation and creation, intelligent creation and generation of intangible cultural heritage drama and music, intelligent cultural language computing and parsing, movie and animation content generation, cultural and creative design, culinary styling design, clothing style transfer, architectural style evolution, virtual experience and teaching, as well as the dissemination and promotion of intangible cultural heritage. Through intelligent applications across multiple dimensions and scenarios, "Wenyue" not only injects innovative vitality into the digital preservation of intangible cultural heritage but also pioneers new pathways for cultural inheritance and innovation.

As another major achievement following the "Wenyao" model in XMUT's development of vertical-domain large models, the "Wenyue" large model represents innovative breakthroughs. The successive launch of this series of large models marks XMUT's continuous optimization of its scientific research ecosystem through precise alignment with national strategic directives and regional development needs. By leveraging large model technology as a core engine, we are profoundly advancing university-local-industry collaboration, thereby injecting potent technological dynamism and intellectual impetus into the region's high-quality economic and social development.
