British Rail Transit Expert Prof. Mark Robinson Appointed XMUT Visiting Professor

On July 12th, Prof. Mark Robinson from Newcastle University in the UK was appointed a visiting professor of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering at XMUT. He presented a cutting-edge lecture titled "The Application of Composite Materials in Rail Transit" to XMUT faculty and students, which introduced the latest developments and applications of composite materials in the field of rail transit.

Prof. Mark Robinson as Director of the Derby Rail and Vehicle Industry Innovation Center in the UK, signed a memorandum of cooperation and exchange with XMUT during his visit. The two parties plan to carry out scientific research cooperation, joint doctoral cultivation, and research findings commercialization in the field of rail and vehicle. Chiefs of the School of Mechanical & Automotive Engineering and OICE of XMUT, and relevant personnel participated in the exchange activities.

Mark Robinson is a professor at the School of Engineering, and Technical Director of the Centre of Excellence for Mobility and Transport at Newcastle University. He is also a Fellow of the Materials, Minerals, and Mining Research Society, a Chartered Engineer, and a Chartered Scientist, and served as President of the European Transport Research Institute (ECTRI) and a Senior Expert in the EU Framework Programme. He has received honors from the JEC Composite Materials Innovation Award, the British Mechanical Engineering Association Award, and the IRRB Lifetime Achievement Award for International Rail Transit Research.
