“Gulangyu Forum · World Business Leaders Roundtable for Global Investment” conference was held grandly in Xiamen International Conference & Exhibition Center on September 7th, 2024. Being witnessed by provincial and municipal leaders and honored guests both at home and abroad, Pan Deng, deputy secretary of CPC committee of Xiamen University of Technology (XMUT), represented XMUT to sign an interschool talent cultivation cooperation agreement with Prof. Dr. Horváth Richárd, the deputy dean and representative from Óbuda University, Hungary.
According to the agreement signed by both parties, the two universities will bring their superiority of preponderant disciplines into full play, jointly cultivate students for undergraduates and masters’ double degrees and PhD co-supervision, establish an “international industry-university-research-application cooperation” mechanism and jointly push forward multi-field cooperation and exchange including technological innovation, achievement transformation, talent cultivation etc. Óbuda University delegation visited Xiamen University of Technology after the conference. They visited XMUT High-Voltage Electrical Apparatus Test Center, Racing Car Club, Wind Tunnel Laboratory etc., and held a productive discussion with the heads of Office of International Cooperation and Exchange and School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering, exploring program plan and cooperation direction for the future. Previously, Prof. Dr. Rajnai Zoltán, the Vice Rector of Óbuda University, came to XMUT and signed a Memorandum of Understanding in August 2024, which laid a good foundation for accelerating the collaboration.
XMUT studies and implements the spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party, responds to the national “Belt and Road” advocacy actively, pushes forward education opening to the outside world and international cooperation of talent education. This cooperation of education and science & technology with Óbuda University is a significant action of introducing “the Belt and Road” superior educational resources, broadening talent cultivation ways, enriching education supply and contributing to high-quality development of “the Belt and Road” depending on strategic international joint talent cultivation and scientific and technological innovation.
It is known that Óbuda University is the biggest practice-oriented university of science and engineering in Hungary. It is honored as “the Cradle of Engineers in Hungary”. Outstanding engineers and scientists have been cultivated, including George Olah, the winner of Nobel Prize for Chemistry, and Joseph Galamb, the chief designer of Ford Motor Company. In 2023 TIMES university ranking, Óbuda University ranked the 4th in Hungary. Its computer science, engineering etc. are in the first place steadily in Hungary. (Office of International Cooperation)
