As the 40th anniversary of the sister-city relationship between Xiamen and Sasebo, Japan approached, a group of teachers and students from the National Institute of Technology (KOSEN), Sasebo College visited XMUT for a 14-day cultural exchange at our invitation to promote international cooperation between sister cities.

XMUT developed a special study tour program“Telling China's Story Well -- Charm of Xiamen” for the visitors. The program focused on themes of the World Cultural Heritage Site, Chinese history and culture, Xiamen's traditional culture, Xiamen's green development, and study and life in Chinese universities. Accompanied by teachers and students from XMUT, visitors from KOSEN Sasebo College toured Gulangyu Islet, a World Heritage Site, experienced China's intangible cultural heritages, Nanyin and puppet shows, which are considered “living fossils in the history of Chinese music”, explored the exhibition of the intangible cultural heritages of Southern Fujian, and even tried their hand at Xiamen embroidery.

Through these experiential activities, teachers and students from KOSEN Sasebo College have gained a deeper understanding of traditional Chinese culture, Xiamen's history and culture, and the concept of modern ecological civilization.
