On April 22, International Institute of Industrial Internet of Things was unveiled in XMUT and it was co-founded by Universiti Sains Malaysia, XMUT, and two enterprises from China and Malaysia. Among those present at the founding ceremony were officials from Xiamen municipal government, XMUT faculty and representative staff from relevant enterprises.
The establishment of the institute is an important measure to meet the demand for talents in Xiamen's industrial development, and build an education and technology cooperation platform between Xiamen and Penang, the international sister city of Xiamen in Malaysia.
Leadership from Universiti Sains Malaysia attended the online ceremony and the Vice Chancellor, Professor Dato' Dr. Faisal Rafiq MahamdAdikan delivered a speech. He thanked all the partners and said the institute was an opportunity to deepen the university-enterprise cooperation and teaching integration between Xiamen and Penang.
Universiti Sains Malaysia, the second comprehensive public university of the country, one of the APEX supported by the Malaysian Ministry of Education, is the leading research universities in Malaysia. The University enjoys a high reputation in science, engineering, medicine and other disciplines, with QS ranking the 147th in the world in 2022.
