At the New Industrial Revolution forum hosted by Xiamen Torch University on the morning of May 10th, a partnership framework agreement between XMUT and Xiamen Torch University was signed. Hong Kaihe, Dean of XMUT School of Continuing Education, acted as XMUT signing representative, and Wu Keshou, Vice President of XMUT, witnessed the signing ceremony

Xiamen Torch University, China’s first platform university of applied sciences in a high-tech zone, was established on May 9, whose mission it is to help thorough implementation of China’s innovation-driven development strategy. XMUT, Tsinghua University, and Xiamen University are among its first batch of cooperation partners. Based on the agreement and supported by the technical strength of the high-tech zone and educational expertise of the university, XMUT and Xiamen Torch University will join hands in high-tech talent training, promote cooperation in high-tech fields, optimize the innovation and entrepreneurship ecology of the high-tech zone, and deepen the integration between education and industry to meet the requirements of high-quality development of industries in the new era. The two partners will carry out solid cooperation in high-quality curriculum development, educational innovation and industrial research in Xiamen Torch University after signing of the cooperation framework agreement.

Dean Hong Kaihe had an interactive discussion with the other expert participants on industry-education integration and innovative development in the afternoon session. He stated in his speech that Xiamen Torch University has a mission of industrial demand-oriented empowerment of enterprises for their innovative development, and it coincides closely with the mission and commitment of XMUT to strive for industry-education integration, enterprise-university collaboration and international cooperation for local development.

XMUT has comparative advantages for our disciplines and programs. We have special strength and expertise in high-tech talents training, especially in innovative talents training and in educate-to-order system for industry, thanks to our close partnership with industry in the past four decades. The cooperation between us opens broad opportunities in industry-university integration to contribute to high-quality development of the local economy.

President Xi Jinping has highlighted the importance of accelerating the development of a modern vocational education system to cultivate more high-caliber technical professionals. With the support from MoE and Fujian Provincial Government for high-quality development of vocational education in Xiamen to facilitate the cross-strait integration and development, XMUT and Xiamen Torch University will start substantial cooperation promptly in high-quality curriculum construction, educational innovation, high-level talents introduction in union with business, vocational education and continuing higher education according to the requirements list from industry.(College of Continuing Education)
