School of Design Art holds 2021 Graduation Design Exhibition

On May 25th, the 2021 Graduation Design Exhibition of School of Design Art kicked off in the lobby of the Complex Building. Present at the opening ceremony were CPC XMUT Committee Secretary Lin Jinchuan, President Zhu Wenwen, heads of XMUT schools and departments, representatives of enterprises in cooperation, and representativeteachers and studentsof the School of Design Art. Liu Jingfu, Vice Dean of the School of Design Art, hosted the opening ceremony.

DeanProfessor Meng Weidong introducedthe creative concept and process of the graduation design exhibition. He said that the graduation exhibition was a display and summary of the students' learning achievements over the years, a test for teaching quality and a presentation of the school's teaching strength and standard. He hoped that the students would uphold the design concept of “upward and good", loyal to professional pursuit and social responsibility in design, and open to embrace the possibilities of cross-disciplinary and cross-field design art expansion.

On behalf of the graduates of 2021, Gao Pei of Visual Communication Design Class 2017 expressed their deep gratitude to the School, to XMUT and to the teachers for their devotion over the years. "Graduation design works are our vision of future life we are about to enter, our interpretation of traditional culture, creation of social hot spots, and inquiry of everyday difficulties." She said that in her creating process, she learned the ideas and methods for discovering and solving problems.

After the opening ceremony was over, the guests visited the exhibits together. They praised the professional design level of the graduates and gave very positive comments on the school's achievements.(School of Design Art).

Introduction to Graduation Design Exhibition

Inspecting the Academy of Fine Arts of Tsinghua University, President Xi Jinping proposed that art should play an important role in serving economic and social development, apply more artistic elements to urban and rural planning and construction, enhance aesthetic and cultural taste, and make art achievements better serve the people's need for a high-quality life.

The theme of this exhibition is Excellence, which embodies the creators’ pursuit and dream of pursuing excellence. It starts from May 25th to May 31st.More than 1,000 pieces of work created by 379 undergraduate graduates from 7 academic fields of study will be exhibited, which include Visual Communication Design, Product Design, Environmental Design, Fashion & Accessory Design, Art & Technology-Digital Media, Art & Technology-Music Engineering, and Digital Media Technology, involving home appliances products, furniture and home furnishing, brand image, text design, graphic design, packaging design, landscape design, interactive products and services, micro-film, animation, audio design and many others.

Living in the multicultural world of today, design art graduates pursue art-technology combination and art-business integration, promote social transformation and innovation of the times with art works full of youthful passion, imagination and creativity to better serve the needs of the people for high-quality life. In their works, graduates integrate their serious thinking about the times, future, society and life. The exhibition is the interpretation and expression of the people of the School of Design Art on sustainability, ecology, technology, and innovation.
