July 10 marked the opening of the Seminar on High-Quality Development of Belt and Road and Construction of BRICS New Industrial Revolution partnership innovation base co-sponsored by XMUT School of Marxism, One Belt-One Road Strategy Institute of Tsinghua University, and One Belt-One Road Financial Development Center of Xiamen National Accounting Institute.

Speakers at the opening ceremony included Zhao Zhenxiang, XMUT Vice President, Huang Jingjing, Deputy Dean of Xiamen National Accounting Institute, Shi Zhiqin, Dean of One Belt-One Road Strategy Institute of Tsinghua University, and Li Ming, Deputy Director of Xiamen BRIC Innovation Base Construction Leading Group Office. XMUT participants also included Sun Huayu, Dean of XMUT School of Marxism, Chen Yingtao, Vice Dean, and He Junming, a XMUT faculty member of School of Marxism and Director of Xiamen Haisi Research Center. Other expert participants came from the sponsoring institutions, and high-education, research and governmental institutions including Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Xiamen University, Hunan University, Xiamen BRICS Innovation Base Construction Leading Group Office, Xiamen Federation of Social Sciences, Hebei University, Huaqiao University, CPC Xiamen Municipal Committee Party School, World Financial Forum, China Branch of BRICS Institute of Future Network, and China-Russia Digital Economy Research Center.

In November 2020, President Xi Jinping proposed a BRICS New Industrial Revolution partnership innovation base to be established in Xiamen, for cooperation in fields of policy coordination, talent training, and project development. In this context, this seminar focused on constructing BRICS partnership of New Industrial Revolution innovation base, promoting Belt and Road construction, and contributing Xiamen’s Strength to China's opening up on all fronts. Participants discussed in detail the ideas of promoting high-quality development of Belt and Road and deepening BRICS cooperation, and raised proposals and solutions on Xiamen’s opening up wider to the world during the 14th Five-Year Plan period, integrating better into the Belt and Road Initiative and building a fine innovation base for BRICS partnership of the New Industrial Revolution.  (School of Marxism)
