Vice Provost of University of Missouri Visits XMUT

   

On March 30, Dr. James Scott, Vice Provost of the University of Missouri, paid a visit to XMUT to quicken the establishing process of Missouri Institute, the joint graduate school by the University of Missouri (UM) and XMUT. Huang Ruxin, CPC Secretary of XMUT, President Chen Wenzhe, Vice President Zhu Wenzhang and some deans of schools extended a welcome to the American visitors.

   Accompanied by Secretary Huang and President Chen respectively, Dr. James Scott and his party visited a number of XMUT partnership enterprises like TPV, United SEMI(Xiamen), Electric Glass, ABB, TPK and Linde Forklifts. They very much praised the XMUT-industry cooperation in cultivating successful graduates as in TPV-participated teaching and guiding students, graduates prepared according to United SEMI order, the national internship base developed with Linde Forklifts as well as all-round cooperation with ABB. Dr. James Scott commented that University of Missouri will learn from XMUT’s practice of university-industry cooperation and actively join XMUT for industry-oriented technology research and cooperation.

  Vice President Zhu showed the UM delegation around the Wind Tunnel Center, High Pressure Testing Center, Engineering Training Center and Racing Club. Missouri visitors fully appreciated XMUT resources in this field and hope the two universities will share teaching and research facilities to promote the cooperation in talents preparation and research development.

During the visit, XMUT and UM conducted fruitful talks on the major issues of Missouri Institute. Both institutions have expressed full confidence in its founding and a memorandum is expected to take effect on the issue of dual degree awarding for the joint schooling.
