XMUT Enters into Partnerships with University College Cork, Ireland and Trier University of Applied Sciences, Germany

An XMUT delegation has recently visited European universities of University College Cork (UCC), Ireland, Cork Institute of Technology, Dublin Institute of Technology, and Trier University of Applied Sciences (TUAS) in Germany.

Founded in 1845, UCC is a member of the prestigious National University of Ireland. It has been named Irish University of the Year by the Sunday Times for five times most recently in 2016, the No. 1 in research funding in the country and it ranks 233 in QS World University Ranking (201516). During the visit, XMUT and UCC signed the Memorandum of Understanding to enter into partnership and established a 3+2 Program Agreement by which XMUT English majors and International Chinese majors on completing their third year at XMUT are allowed to leave for UCC to finish their undergraduate learning and accomplish master-degree courses there. Successful participants in the 3+2 Program will acquire undergraduate diploma/degree from XMUT and master’s degree from UCC.

TUAS became a friendship university of XMUT in 2015. This visit witnessed the launch of a number of projects in substantive cooperation. A Student Exchange Program has been decided and relevant agreement signed. XMUT and TUAS will join hands in conducting the courses delivered in English in the Student Exchange Program. TUAS intends to make offers of admission to tuition-free, English-taught graduate applicants of XMUT in the field of clothing design. The two universities are prepared to host Joint Design School for design, production and display in fashion clothing and media in Xiamen and Trier in summer of the follow years. They will also form research teams respectively to share Germany’s dual system in applied learning in higher education through scholar interview, staff training, seminars and the like.
