XMUT Students of Art Design Win International and National Awards 2018

 

 

Students of the School of Art Design have won three international and national awards in2018: Lu Di of Class of Product Design 2013 wins iF TALENT AWARD 2018 with his“Soap Scrapers”, Yuan Shuzhan of Class of Product Design 2014 wins China Red Star Design Award with his "Breeze In", and Liang Xiaojie of Class of Product Design 2015 wins a gold medal at 2018 Lexy Industrial Design Innovation Competition with his Simple Air Purifier.

The iF DESIGN AWARD, sponsored since 1953 by the iF International Forum Design GmbH based in Hannover, is considered the best of the world’s four most prestigious design competitions, the others being Red Dot, G-mark and IDEA. Lu Di's award-winning "Soap Scrapers" is a container for solid shampoo, which is able to let out a quantitative amount of shampoo using the work principle of scrapers. It was selected out of more than 20,000 competitive pieces from over 60 countries around the world.

China Red Star Design Award is the highest and the most credible award for industrial design in China.It was co-initiated by China Industrial Design Association and Beijing Industrial Design Promotion Center, and co-organized with industrial design associations of specific places that seat the award competition of the year. The 2018 China Red Star Design Award attracted more than 10,000 pieces of work worldwide, and only about 400 of them were shortlisted for final selection.

The 2018 Industrial Design Innovation Competition is co-organized by Jiangsu Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology, Suzhou Municipal Commission of Economic and Information Technology and the Economic Development and Reform Bureau of Suzhou High-tech Zone. It is co-sponsored by Lexy Electric and Jiangsu Provincial Industrial Design Association. 70 designs are awarded out of 985 participating designs from more than 70 universities and more than 30 design institution. Liang Xiaojie’s gold prize artwork presents Suzhou Gardens with geometric elements and classical aesthetics. (By School of Art Design)
