School of New Silk Road Fashion and School of Design Art Established in XMUT

 March 14th marked the establishment of two reformed new XMUT schools: the School of New Silk Road Fashion and the School of Design Art, by which XMUT took a big step forward in setting up industrial schools on industry-university integration. In the establishment ceremony held in the Lecture Hall in the afternoon, President ZHU Wenzhang appointed Li Bing, Chair of Board of the New Silk Road Group(NSRG), as Dean of the School of New Silk Road Fashion, and attendees including HUANG Ruxin, Secretary of XMUT CPC Committee, ZHU Wenzhang, XMUT President, LI Bing, Dean of the New Silk Road Fashion School, GUO Xiaohua, Executive Dean of the New Silk Road Fashion School, and MENG Weidong, Deputy Dean of the School of Design Art, unveiled the two new schools. 

LI Bing said that it is of great significance to China’s fashion industry that NSRG, the most reputed fashion business in China, joins a university to start an undergraduate school for the first time. The major line of businesses for NSRG covers four of the five programs of the School of New Silk Road Fashion and NSRG’s industrial resources will merge well with the educational strength of the School to acquire mutual development and success.

HUANG Ruxin pointed out that the reorganization of the two schools is a happy marriage between the university and the industry, and a win-win strategy for the local government, XMUT and NSRG in XMUT’s sustained development to support the growing industries in Xiamen.

School of New Silk Road Fashion offers five programs of Fashion & Accessory Design, Fashion Design & Performance, Show Modeling, Broadcasting & Hosting, and Internet & New Media. It will admit 400 fresh undergraduates in September 2018. Exploiting the NSRG strength in fashion and international fashion training, the School of New Silk Road Fashion will push the more streamlined flow of university teachers, fashion professionals and students between academic and industrial sectors, and provide open and globalized training at higher level with better resources to China’s fashion industry to help its reforming and upgrading.

School of Design Art offers five programs of Product Design, Environmental Design, Visual Communication Design, Art &Technology, and Digital Media Technology.
