XMUT Wins Gold and Silver Medals in China Internet Plus Collegiate Innovation and Entrepreneurship Contest

XMUT won a gold, a silver and two bronze medals at the finals of the 3rd China Internet Plus Collegiate Innovation and Entrepreneurship Contest on September 18, 2017, out of 370,000 competitive projects from over 2000 colleges and universities. We ranked the 19th nationally and the 17th for the mainland, listed among the Top 20 Excellent Institutions for the Contest together with Zhejiang University, Xiamen University and Huazhong University of Science and Technology. XIE Wenyu, an XMUT faculty member, won the Award of Excellent Mentor for College Innovation and Entrepreneurships of China. Our gold-winning project is Qiyi Technology, which turns the biomass like kitchen residue to the precious hydrogen. This is the third year that XMUT has participated in the Contest, a green hand in 2015, two bronze medals in 2016, and a gold and a silver awards in 2017.

 

The 3rd China Internet Plus Innovation and Entrepreneurship Contest for College Students was co-sponsored by the Ministry of Education, the State Network Security and Informatization Office, the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, the State Intellectual Property Office, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Chinese Academy of Engineering, CYL Central Committee and the Shaanxi Provincial Government, and hosted by the Xi'an University of Electronic Science and Technology. It is the largest event for college student innovation and entrepreneurship in China. This year it attracted 370,000 competing projects from 2241 colleges and universities and 150,000 student competitors in China plus 116 university teams from 25 countries and regions overseas like US, Canada, Japan, Japan and Australia. A total of 43 gold medals were awarded for the competition.
